ECLECTUS:

Eclectus come in 3rd in talking ability. Out of all 4 species, I have to say the Solomon Island is my favorite species of Eclectus. Don't get me wrong, all 4 species make great pets. The Solomon Island is the smallest, but what they lack in size they make up in personality. I fell in love with their gentle nature and calm personality.

I just recently weaned a male who was a doll. Male Eclectus tend to be very easy going, do well with a house full of excitement and small children. Females, on the other hand, are the exact opposite of the males. Females tend to be more shy. They do well in a house with older children and less activity. Females do get very aggressive once they sexually mature. They are very protective of their food and water bowls, cage, and toys. I know this because my Mom owns a female vos and she is just now going through this terrible stage. We are hoping it won't last. Males are definitely the better pet for a family environment.
